Wii

The Nintendo company was formed in 1889 in Kyoto, Japan by Fusajiro Yamauchi. Video games did not exist back then, and the age of the television was more than fifty years away. At the time, the company produced handmade hanafuda cards, or 'flower cards', used to play a number of games. The Nintendo Company dabbled in several other small businesses before turning its attention to video games in the mid 1970s, as game consoles were being developed for the home. In 1983, they launched the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), which revitalized a floundering video game industry. Twenty-three years and four consoles later, Nintendo released the Wii. The console's motion sensitive controller (or wiimote) caught the attention of both gamers and non-gamers alike.
